Las Victorias Farm

Las Victorias farm is located on the highlands of the mountains of Apaneca at on the East Side of the city of Apaneca, is owned by the Magaña Menendez family and their descendents since the middle part of XIX century, which means that it has been owned for more than 150 years by the family.



At the time there were no more means of transportation other than foot, horses or mules, even do the “Camino Real” that communicated the city of Guatemala with the port of Acajutla going through the towns of Ahuachapán, Apaneca, Juayúa and Sonsonate was open and used only by animal traction carriages in the dry season the coffee plantation was bought in their initial portions by General Francisco Menendez a public figure that had several government positions until he became president of the Republic of El Salvador from 1885 to 1890 year in which he die.

The farm was inherited by his daughter who married Dr. Gustavo Magaña Salazar, a prominent lawyer of that time; together they decide to acquire the neighboring plantations. By that time no much coffee was planted most of the land was covered with grass for livestock, wheat, sugar cane and cereals, since that time several species of wildlife have their habitat, even coyotes in fact one of the mountain is called Coyutepec which means mountains of coyotes; also añil (an organic colorant) was planted at the time, the extraction tanks can still be seen by the streams of several rivers of the area.

This farm was processed in the family-owned San Ramon Mill, the drying method used for the bourbon variety is totally sun dry and are selected only first quality beans. The drying method used for the hybrid variety is totally machinery dry.
